Franchise History

The Indian Packing Company made an agreement in 1919 to sponsor a football team in Green Bay under the leadership of Curly Lambeau. It was a mere two years later, in 1921, that this team joined the National Football League.

There have been many great football players and coaches that have been part of this storied franchise. Vince Lombardi is the most dominant figure as he and Lambeau produced 11 championships and a dynasty which was strong again during the 1060’s.

There are over 20 players in the Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. Currently, the players are: Don Hutson, Arnie Herber, Clarke Hinkle, Cal Hubbard, John (Blood) McNally, Mike Michalske and Tony Canadeo, Jim Taylor, Forrest Gregg, Bart Starr, Ray Nitschke, Herb Adderley, Willie Davis, Jim Ringo, Paul Hornung, Willie Wood and Henry Jordan for the Hall. James Lofton, Dave Robinson and Reggie White are the latest to be inducted.

On September 29, 1957, the city of Green Bay and the franchise opened a new stadium and named it Lambeau Field (in 1965). The Packers have won the Super Bowl twice in the previous 25 years with a 1996 win of Super Bowl XXXI  and in 2010 for Super Bowl XLV over the Steelers.

The starts and stops with quarterback Aaron Rodgers. Last season the Packers finished 13-3 and was beaten in the playoffs by San Francisco. Devanta Adams (513 yards in 2019) is the primary receiver for Rodgers and these two have developed some team chemistry which will get them yardage and wins.

Aaron Jones is getting better every year as their primary running back and is a compliment to the passing game. The Packers drafted AJ Dillon and he will get plenty of carries in 2020. The Packers and odds have the exact same odds to win the division.
