Philadelphia man, I don’t believe in the hype. We saw it a week before against Washington and Taylor Heinecke, and now we’re seeing it again when they played the tanking Colts. This game came down to one-fourth down possession. If Eagles quarterback Jaylen Hurts doesn’t push his way into the first down marker in Indianapolis’ endzone, we see them with two losses this year. It simply shouldn’t be that close against a Colts squad that not only fired their head coach mid-year, but has total confusion at the quarterback position and a misuse problem with their star running back. Jaylen Hurts looked decent at best, and without that run, we may have said he looked bad.
Their offense just wasn’t potent and wasn’t number one caliber. They should be running away with games like this. With their current schedule ahead, having to play teams like the Packers, Titans, Giants twice, and the Cowboys, you could very well see them rack up a few more losses with the way they’re currently performing, and someone else could possibly take the number one reign very soon.
Cowboys and the stigma
And that team would be the Dallas Cowboys. I know Jerry Jones had a big smile on his face after this one. And so did probably Shannon Sharpe as well. They decimated the Vikings! Sent that confident Minnesota squad and Kirk Cousins home. They whooped them 40-3 and we even got to witness the guy who will end up taking over the half-back position for them very soon Tony Pollard. Pollard had an amazing day for a “running back”. He totaled 80 yards rushing, along with over 100 yards receiving and two touchdowns.
A back that can run the rock fluidly, and can also amass yards like a pro bowl receiver is someone Dallas’ owner Jerry is going have to very much keep his eye on and pay up at the end of the year or he won’t be a Cowboy for too much longer. He is the golden back in NFL guru’s eyes. An explosive back can destroy the defense in multiple facets. Kind of like a James White and how Bill Belicheck used to utilize him with Tom Brady in New England, but just so much more potential. This Dallas squad has finally cracked the formula. With all of their fans, which is a lot of them let me tell ya, claiming every season that this is their year, this one seriously actually could be.
They have the elite caliber defense led by pass rusher Micah Parsons and Safety Trayvon Diggs. They have the leader on offense in Dak Prescott, paired with his yard attacking corps in Ceedee Lamb, Pollard and even Zeke Elliot, let’s not forget. I see this squad taking big leaps in the NFC after this huge upset win at Minnesota and currently, they are my number one team in the Conference not paying attention to the record. Watch out for them boys!
On the other hand, some former stars are finding their way back into the mix after somewhat slow starts. Joe Burrow and the Bengals pulled out a shootout in Pittsburgh with a 37-30 victory, with Joe throwing for over 300 yards and 4 touchdowns. Patrick Mahomes and Kansas City pulled out a tight one against Justin Herbert and the Chargers, who seem to always just come up short when given the opportunity to capitalize and high-caliber opponents. And the New England Patriots. I swear Bill Belicheck never gives up. They won once again another big game against the New York Jets making the AFC East very interesting, if not the best division in the NFL.
