Cardinals Prospect- #24 Austin Love

Baseball, MLB article at Knup Sports

Austin Love was born in Salisbury, NC and a 2017 high school graduate. At the time of his graduation, he ranked as the 191st best right handed available

Austin Love is 6-foot 3 and 232 pounds and was drafted out of the University of North Carolina in the 3rd round of the 2021 MLB Draft.

The Cardinals like his size for future starter and late inning reliever. If he holds his velocity he could be a #2 of #3 starter in a major league rotation. He is primarily a strike thrower. His best pitch appears to be his changeup which floats in the mid 80’s with fade and sink.  He averages 91-95 mph on his fastball. He can ramp it ip to 98 or so but it begins to flatten out and his more hittable. His slider is judge as average but progress on that pitch has been favorable.

The Cardinal organization likes his repeatable delivery and his size gives them hope he can become a future starter. His ETA to the major leagues is 2024.
