Early US Open Betting Odds
We’re two weeks away from the US Open, the tennis season’s fourth and final Grand Slam. It has been a wild season with the changing of the guard in the men’s game with Carlos Alcaraz beating Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and Iga Swiatek continuing her dominance in the women’s game – we also had first-time Grand Slam winner Marketa Vondrousova.
The outdoor hard court season is in full swing after interesting clay and grass court competitions. Jannik Sinner and Alex De Minaur were in good form, reaching the finals of the National Bank Open in Canada, while Jessica Pegula was awaiting the winner of Liudmila Samsonova and Elena Rybakina in the women’s draw. The Western and Southern Open begins on Monday.
Updates and Withdrawals
The majority of the best players in the sport are healthy two weeks ahead of the US Open, but fans in New York will miss out on having Nick Kyrgios in this year’s tournament. Kyrgios had one of his best years on the ATP Tour in 2022 and reached the quarter-finals at the US Open, but has missed most of this season while recovering from injury. He has played just one match this season and ruled himself out of the US Open last week.

Best Bets
It’s tough to bet on anyone other than Alcaraz or Djokovic in a Grand Slam. They have combined to win the last five Grand Slams. Ignoring Rafael Nadal, who also won’t compete in New York, only one player outside of Alcaraz and Djokovic – Daniil Medvedev at the 2021 US Open – has won a Grand Slam since the 2021 Australian Open.
In the women’s draw, the same can be said about the trio of Swiatek, Rybakina, and Aryna Sabalenka. Prior to Wimbledon, these three women have combined to win the last five Grand Slams. Swiatek, the defending US Open champion, is a smart bet to repeat and has the shortest odds to win.
Longshot Bets
Again, it’s tough to see anyone other than the favorites winning the US Open as the sport has been dominated by a small group of players in the last few years. There have been exceptions, however, so it’s worth looking into. In the men’s draw, definitely fade Felix Auger-Aliassime, who has the 10th-shortest odds despite being just 13-12 this season and in the midst of the worst slump of his career.
Alex De Minaur, who is in the finals of the National Bank Open, is a solid pick, especially at +6600. Those odds are only going to get lower, so it’s best to take advantage now.
In the women’s draw, Caroline Garcia at +3300 represents great value. She has been struggling lately, but won the WTA Finals last season and was a semifinalist at the US Open. Mirra Andreeva, a 16-year-old sensation, is another great option at +3300. She is 29-5 this season across all levels of competition and looked great at Wimbledon, reaching the Round of 16.
