LeBron James is one of the best players to ever play in the NBA. Where should he retire? In this article, we consider three teams where LeBron should finish out his career.

LeBron James has been the face of the NBA for over a decade. Whenever his name is mentioned, it is big news. Even at the age of 37, LeBron is one of the top players in the league. However, nothing lasts forever. Since LeBron is nearing 40 years of age, it is only a matter of time before he retires.

LeBron has been on three different teams in his career. He often leaves people guessing about where he will end up in the future. Currently, he is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, under the final season of his contract. He has had positive discussions with the organization about a contract extension, but he has not agreed to any such deal yet.

LeBron might decide to finish his career in L.A. Or perhaps, he will explore another team. For now, we can only speculate. Here are the best three teams for LeBron to go to finish his career.

Los Angeles Lakers

There is nothing wrong with LeBron James staying in Los Angeles. It is a great city and home to one of the most successful franchises in all of sports. LeBron loves the city of L.A. and so does his family.

LeBron James is a legendary NBA player, so it is only fitting that he retires with a legendary NBA team. There is no better team to choose than the Lakers. There is a long list of all-time Laker greats, and LeBron deserves a spot on that list.

The Lakers will need to work extremely hard on all levels if they want to help LeBron win another championship before he retires. That involves the front office making the right decisions, the coaching staff understanding the players and developing winning strategies, and the players staying in shape and focused solely on winning. It would take a lot to get there, but it could be done.

New York Knicks

LeBron has played for some big markets throughout his career. First, he joined the Miami Heat. Then, he joined the Los Angeles Lakers. It doesn’t get much bigger than the Big Apple. If LeBron ever went to the Knicks, there would be enormous hype around his acquisition. Even as he nears retirement, James would be one of the best players the Knicks have rostered in a very long time.

The New York Knicks are desperately searching for something to be relevant. They have struggled to make the playoffs for the past decade. LeBron would instantly increase both their relevancy and their odds of making the playoffs.

Retiring in New York City would be mutually beneficial for the Knicks and for LeBron. He would be welcomed in a big city and a historic NBA team that will certainly give him his flowers. The King has had some special moments throughout his career at Madison Square Garden. What if he decided to call it home court?

Cleveland Cavaliers

LeBron James returned to Cleveland in 2014 on a mission to deliver a championship to the city. In 2016, he succeeded in that mission. Once his major goal was complete and the team around him started to crumble, there was no real reason for him to stay.

The Cavaliers have started to become relevant again. They have a solid young core led by Darius Garland and Jarrett Allen.

LeBron has had a history of helping young stars grow and develop, such as Kyrie Irving and Anthony Davis. He could return to his home state and help these young stars develop, all while preparing for the closing of his legendary career.

Returning to the Cleveland Cavaliers would be a sweet ending for LeBron’s illustrious career. James started his career as a member of the Cavs; why not finish it there, too?
