Franchise History
The Ravens originated in Cleveland and decided to relocate as owner Art Modell reached a deal with the City of Baltimore in 1996. The nickname came from the poem written by Baltimore native Edgar Allan Poe with the same name The Ravens. Their first selection in the draft was Ray Lewis and he became a dominant linebacker in the NFL.
The first good inning season came in 2000 as the team won 12 games and went on to win Super Bowl XXXV over the New York Giants. In 2019 the franchise set an NFL record with 3,296 team rushing yards and posting a franchise-best 14–2 record.
