Rohit Sharma: One of the Best Batsman in the World

Cricket article at Knup Sports

Rohit Sharma has proven to be one of the most important players in Cricket. Find out why Sharma is one of the greatest Indian players to play the game.

India’s opening Batter, Rohit Sharma, has proven to be one of the most consistent and lethal hitters in the world. Sharma has shown his World-Class level by scoring numerous high run scores and leading his Mumbai Indians to many IPL titles.

Sharma may be one of the best hitters India has ever had. Especially in the last decade, it’s as if he never gets the full credit for being such a high-level player. It can be argued that his scoring and leadership may even make him better than Virat Kohli.

Kohli has not won an IPL title with his Bangalore Royal Challengers, and Sharma has captained his Mumbai Indians to 5 IPL titles. Sharma has really proven to be one of the best T20 club captains in the world.

T20 God

Sharma holds the record for most 6’s in International T20 and is in 3rd place all-time in ODI. Sharma has proved to be an absolute power hitter when he suits up for India. He is definitely the best Batting opener in Cricket for a reason.

Sharma is the greatest IPL player ever. With five titles he has the most titles for a player ever. The power hitter is also the most capped IPL player ever; he started his career in the inaugural year of the IPL with the then Deccan Chargers.

In his earlier days with the Deccan Chargers, Sharma recorded a hat-trick when he stepped up to bowl. This makes him the only IPL player to record a century and a hat-trick.

ODI Success

Even though Rohit Sharma has proven to be a skilled T20 leader, his ODI track record is as impressive. Sharma holds the record for the highest individual score in an ODI match. In 2014, Sharma recorded a score of 264 runs against Sri Lanka, putting him in the record books.

Sharma is 3rd in the all-time list for most ODI centuries with 30. His ODI average runs score comes out to 48.91 runs which means he is averaging a near half-century per game he plays.

Legacy

Sharma, to me, is the most underrated hitter in Cricket history. For his lengthy resume, trophy cabinet, leadership, and records, surely ensures his name will forever be remembered. Sharma’s success seems to be overshadowed in the media by his Indian teammate, Virat Kohli. With the spotlight always on Kohli in any form of Cricket, this takes away from the essential batting presence brought by Sharma.

Rohit Sharma still has some solid years to play at a high level. He will be looking to revive his Mumbai Indians to success in this year’s IPL after a poor season last year. His leadership of the Mumbai Indians has made them a dynasty since the inception of the league.
