A heavy chunk of the offensive production will return which include the top four hitters from 2023. Joey Berini hit ,318 , Justin Wilcoxen finished at ,317 while Carter Cunningham also was at .317 with Jacob Starling at ,311, Add Jacob Lenkins-Cosart a potential Top 100 in the MLB draft and the offense locals viable against all competitors.
Trey Yesavage was 7-1 with a 2.61 ERA will return to anchor the pitching staff along with lefty Zach Root as he was 3-3 and a 5.53 ER,
The best bullpen arm from last year Danny Beal (6-2, 2.70 ERA) is back, as well as Wyatt Lunsford-Shenkman (4-2, 4.24 ERA) and Jake Hunter (4-2, 4.71 ERA). George Washington transfer Chris Kahler (4-3, 3.57 ERA) will also be in the mix to get plenty of innings.
High hopes are in store for freshman outfielder Bristol Carter to break into a beast for coach Godwin.
Steady Luke Nowak returns after a second team All-ACC selection as he hit .288 with three triple nine doubles and led the tram with 20 stolen bases Nowak’s plus speed translates well to left field, where he is a strong defender.
The Pirates open up Feb. 16-18 against Rider at home and then take the road to face North Carolina the following weekend series
