Orioles 6 – Rays 0 (9/23/2025): Kremer’s Dominant 6.33 Innings

Baltimore Orioles vs Tampa Bay Rays Recap: Orioles shut out the Rays 6-0, improving to 73-83 while Tampa Bay falls to 76-80 in the standings.

The Baltimore Orioles delivered a dominant performance against the Tampa Bay Rays on a sweltering evening at Oriole Park at Camden Yards, securing a 6-0 victory. With the win, the Orioles improved to a 73-83 record, while the Rays fell to 76-80, both teams residing in the lower half of the AL East standings.

Dean Kremer took the mound for the Orioles and was in excellent form, going 6.33 innings while giving up just one hit and striking out four. His efforts earned him his 10th win of the season, showcasing his capacity to silence the Rays’ bats throughout the game.

Orioles Offense Ignites Early

Baltimore’s offensive firepower was on full display from the start. In the first inning, they set the tone by scoring two quick runs, a lead that provided Kremer with enough cushion to pitch comfortably.

By the third inning, the Orioles added another run, showing consistent offensive pressure on the Rays’ pitching staff. Jordan Westburg and Gunnar Henderson each contributed with multi-hit games, combining to drive in three runs.

In the fifth inning, the Orioles extended their lead further, adding another run to make it a 4-0 game. The sixth inning proved to be the nail in the coffin for the Rays, as Baltimore added two more runs, courtesy of a home run by Colton Cowser, which sealed the 6-0 shutout.

Rays’ Bats Struggle

The Rays’ offense was stifled throughout the evening, managing just two hits against the Orioles’ pitching staff. Curtis Simpson and Josh Lowe were the only Rays players able to notch a hit, both singles that failed to spark any significant rally.

Ryan Pepiot, starting for the Rays, was unable to contain Baltimore’s batting lineup, allowing three runs over his three innings of work. With a 3.77 ERA, Pepiot took the loss, dropping to an 11-11 record for the season.

Despite efforts from their bullpen, which included two innings of scoreless pitching from Keynan Kelly, the Rays could not mount a comeback. Ian Seymour’s four innings saw him concede three runs, including Cowser’s decisive home run.

Looking Ahead

With the season winding down, the Rays will aim to regroup quickly as they stay in Baltimore for two more games against the Orioles. These upcoming games present an opportunity to finish strong on the road before heading to Toronto to face the Blue Jays.

For Baltimore, the victory provides a momentary morale boost as they seek to close out their season on a positive note. Interim manager Tony Mansolino will be pleased with both the pitching and batting efforts in this game.

The Orioles, with back-to-back home games against the Rays, hope to continue their winning ways before hitting the road to face the New York Yankees. Their ability to maintain offensive consistency will be key as they aim to climb the division standings in the final days of the season.

With the Orioles’ solid display against their division rivals, the AL East remains competitive, even as teams find themselves out of postseason contention. Both squads will look to build momentum going into the offseason and prepare for a stronger showing next year.
