YouTube star, Logan Paul, will come face to face with Floyd “Money” Mayweather on February 20th in what could be the boxing exhibition of the century. Logan Paul must’ve been inspired by his brother Jake’s KO victory over Nate Robinson on November 29th because he’s throwing himself straight into the fire in a couple of months.
Paul has made it clear in his WWE style promos that all it takes is one punch to knock out Mayweather. This is true. The only issue with this is that talking about connecting with Mayweather is much easier than actually making it happen.
Paul’s confidence has made many people ask the question, “Can Logan defeat Floyd Mayweather?” If you believe Paul can beat Mayweather, I don’t judge you at all. However, you may want to go take a close look at the facts for this exhibition match.
Logan Paul can win this fight in so many ways outside of the ring, but he doesn’t stand a chance when the bell goes off on February 20th.
Tale of the Tape
Logan Paul is obviously the underdog in this fight. Vegas has given the 25-year-old a 15 to 1 chance to beat Mayweather. Logan Paul is coming into this fight with an 0-1 professional record after being defeated by British YouTuber, KSI, back in 2019. KSI defeated Paul in a competitive match that ended in a 2-1 decision. Paul hasn’t been in the ring since November of 2019.
Floyd Mayweather is 43 years of age and hasn’t competed in a sanctioned boxing match since he took down The Notorious, Conor McGregor, on August 26th of 2017. McGregor gave Mayweather everything that he could handle for ten rounds, but the night ended with Mayweather’s hand being raised by the referee. Mayweather’s most recent exhibition bout was against Japanese kickboxer, Tenshin Nasukawa, on December 31st of 2018. Mayweather won by TKO in the third round.
Floyd Mayweather is arguably the greatest fighter to ever step foot in a boxing ring. He has a professional record of 50-0. He has won a fight in five different weight classes and held a major world title on eleven separate occasions.
Logan Paul has a very impressive track record outside of the ring. The 25-year-old has an estimated net worth of $19 million as well as 22.6 million YouTube subscribers to his name. Although, when it comes to boxing, Logan Paul comes up short. The only benefit he’ll have in this fight is a decent weight advantage depending on how much he’s forced to cut.
Who Wins?
I give Logan Paul a ton of credit for throwing down this insurmountable challenge. He is correct that it only takes one punch to defeat Mayweather. However, this isn’t going to happen when these two competitors face off in a couple of months.
Logan Paul is a phenomenal athlete. He is good enough to defeat numerous boxers who have a professional bout on their resume. Despite this, Floyd “Money” Mayweather isn’t just another professional boxer. In my mind, he’s the best to ever put-on gloves and this will be evident on February 20th.
A Logan Paul loss doesn’t mean that the 25-year-old won’t experience success after this fight. Financially, the rumored split for the match favors Mayweather and this should be the case. Logan Paul isn’t doing this fight for the money. It’s certain that the YouTuber will grow his following tenfold from this fight and that’s why he’s taking on Mayweather.
Final Thoughts
We all love the underdog story and Logan Paul fits this classification perfectly. This is a modern-day David and Goliath story. Does Logan Paul have a chance to win? Yes. I wouldn’t call myself a boxer by any means, but if I stepped in the ring with Mayweather, I’d have a chance to win. All you need is an opportunity to have a shot at coming up victorious. Nevertheless, this isn’t a Disney movie. This is real life and in real life, a YouTube sensation doesn’t KO the best boxer of all time.
