The MLB is filled with some of the most talented players in the sport of baseball. Since the debut of the stat tracker of hardest hitters, the two most notable people would be Giancarlo Stanton and Aaron Judge. Giancarlo Cruz-Michael Stanton is 32 years of age and is a right fielder for the New York Yankees. Aaron Judge is 30 years of age and is also a right fielder for the Yankees. 10 of the 12 hardest home runs in history were hit by current Yankee teammates collectively.
On August 9, 2018, the New York Yankees faced the Texas Rangers. Aaron Judge was sidelined due to a chip fracture in his wrist, Stanton assumed control of the Yankees’ offense, appearing to pound pitch after pitch with authority. During the 5th inning, Stanton recorded his 28th home run, which was the hardest hit in baseball history with a speed of 121.7 MPH. Stanton also holds the 2nd record for the hardest hit in baseball.
On July 25, 2020, the Yankees faced the Washington Nationals. Stanton had hit a 483-foot projected home run tracked at the speed of 121.3 MPH. This was his longest distance home run since joining the club in December 2018. However, the 3rd hardest hit didn’t come from Stanton. Instead, it came from his former teammate Aaron Judge. The Yankees’ offensive barrage against Orioles starter Chris Tillman in the first inning included 10 trips to the plate, including Judge’s hardest home run with a tracked speed of 121.1 MPH.
The home run helped Judge establish himself as a major league superstar, along with his performance in the 2017 Home Run Derby. These two athletes have stood on top of the hardest hitters in the league for a while. Competing back and forth, breaking each other records.
Honorable Mentions
Some honorable mentions are Manny Machado and Franchy Cordero. Machado plays third baseman and shortstop for the San Diego Padres. On August 20th, he hit a bomb against the Phillies, placing him in the conversion with Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton. Manny Machado hit a 119 mph home run knocking the ball out of the park. Franchy Cordero’s performance against the Phillies as well solidified his position as one of the hardest hitters in the game. Cordero hit a ball 118 mph, making it his first home run with the red socks. These two players deserve recognition for their extraordinary feats
Aaron Judge vs. Giancarlo Stanton
It’s no question that these two athletes competed and excelled at the highest level of the sport. Both Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton’s performances left the fans with an experience they will never forget. In my opinion, even though Giancarlo Stanton currently holds the record for hardest hit at 121mph, I believe Aaron judge is the better batter in-game. Both athletes are physically impressive as Giancarlo Stanton is 6’6 245lbs and Aaron Judge is 6’7 280lbs. If both of these batters lined up in an open field, I believe Judge would get the edge over Staton.
