Philadelphia Phillies Preview and Predictions 2024

Kyle Schwarber will lead off again in 2024 as the designated hitter, He only batted .197 last season but they lived with it as he smashed 49 home runs and 126 walks. Shortstop Trea Turner will bat in the to hole. His defense is becoming a bit suspect and offensively he chased too many pitches.

Bryce Harper will bat third and play first base for the Phillies. He came back quickly from Tommy John surgery. In the clean up spot is Nick Castellanos who hits the ball hard (at a 43% rate). However, they would like for him to cut down on his chase rate.

Batting fifth is third baseman Alec Bohm. He is adequate in the field but also needs to cut down his chase rate. Power does come from his bat. Following him in the batting order is third baseman Bryson Stott. He is worthy of a Gold Glove in his career and he lad the team in WAR in 2023. Good looking young player.

The catcher is J.T,. Realmuto who will likely bat seventh. He is on the downward decline in on base and strikeouts. This is concerning to the organization. Left fielder Brandon Marsh is the left fielder and he is entering his prime. He hit the ball and solid and is a solid player. They may move him up in the order in 2024. Johan Rojas will bat ninth and play center. He is a speedy outfielder and decent hitter. If takes positives steps then this team will move him to the top of the order.

The rotation is set with Zach Wheeler as the ace of the staff. He has a wicked fastball to show hitter plus a big playoff addition. Aaron Nola is next. The righty got a hefty contract and is capable of being an ace. Christopher Sanchez fools hitters with his change up and is effective. Taijuan Walker won 15 games and saw his career take on new life. Ranger Suarez is a ground ball pitcher and a good #5 pitcher.

Jose Alvarado is the closer who has electric stuff and his a strike out hurler. Gregory Soto is a few seasons away from being dominate with his 98 mph sinker.

Prospects:Mick Abel is a right handed pitcher with a good looking fastball and nasty slider but some times struggles with command. Third baseman Aidan Miller has great bat speed and power but shows the propensity of swing and miss too often.

Predictions: What ever the finish is based on their top pitching and not the too many swing and miss approaches. They finish in second place with a 90-72 record.
