Top 5 Shooting Guards In NBA History

Out of all 5 positions in the NBA, I believe shooting guard is the most appealing to fans. The game has evolved, and you have centers shooting fade-away 3s. In past years you would only see moves like those by guards. I want to give my opinion on who is in my top 5 shooting guards of all time.

Indiana Pacers Star

Starting at the number 5 spot I have Reggie Miller as the 5th all-time best shooting guard. Reggie was Drafted in the first round of the 1987 NBA draft pick 11 by the Indian Pacers. Miller became a 5-time all-star and a gold medalist in the 1996 summer Olympics.

Reggie Miller is regarded to be one of the best Pacers of all time. One of Reggie Miller’s most notable moments is when he scored 8 points in 9 seconds to force a playoff win against the New York Knicks.

Future Hall of Famer

The next player on my list is James Harden. This choice might be a surprise to some people being James’ poor showing this past season with the Brooklyn Nets. James Harden has won League MVP as well as the 6th man of the year. Paired with 7 first-time all-time NBA first teams.

Third, on most 3s all-time surprising Reggie Miller in the records. Also, he has been voted as an all-star 9 times. These accolades don’t do justice to the dominating offense performance James Harden has performed. At times Harden left the defense confused and unaware.

Miami Heat Legend

Dwayne Wade comes in at the third all-time shooting guard. The Flash was the face of the NBA In the early 2000s. He was one of the most athletic guards during his time, winning 3 NBA championships and 1 final MVP and 8 all-NBA selections.

D-Wade secured 13 all-star appearances and 3 all-defensive and 2nd-team selections. D-Wade is a Miami Heat legend and earns his 3rd place spot on this list.

Show-Time Lakers

Second place on this list is one of the most harshly debated topics in sports history. Kobe Bryant is a Laker legend. Kobe is a 5-time NBA champion and 2x finals MVP. Kobe won a league MVP in 2008 and has been a part of the all-star game 18 times. Recipient of 4 all-star game MVP honors 11x NBA all-first team. Kobe also received 2 Olympic gold medals.

This long list of accolades is a testament to the hard work Kobe committed to the game. When Kobe was drafted in 1996 and traded to the LA Lakers where he paired up with NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal. This was the start of Kobe’s extraordinary NBA career placing him at the Number 2 spot on my list.

Chicago Bulls Goat

At the Number 1 spot on my list, I have Michael Jordan. 6× NBA champion, 6× NBA Finals MVP, 5× NBA Most Valuable Player, 14× NBA All-Star, 3× NBA All-Star Game MVP, 10× All-NBA First Team, and 9× NBA all-defensive team.

Michael Jordan is widely renowned as the greatest shooting guard to ever play the game and is usually considered the greatest of all time. People tend to choose him as the comparison when comparing legends of the sport. Jordan revolutionized the game and gave fans lasting memories. To this day his legacy is engraved in NBA history.

He is considered to be a once-in-a-lifetime player and has transcended the game.
