The trade deadline may be a month out, but the Blue Jays acquired both Adam Chamber and Corey Dickerson for Joe Panik and prospect Andrew McInavale. It’s a nine-game slate for this MLB slate as the Detroit Tigers vs the Cleveland Indians is postponed. This may be another fun slate, but the pitcher position might be the hardest one to choose on tonight’s slate. Please keep an eye on the weather as you may have to factor in some rain delays or cancellations.
MLB DFS DFS picks for June 30
PITCHER – Aaron Nola (R) $11,000
I think the pitching position is the one DFS players should pay up for tonight because of the matchup against the Miami Marlins. At Citizens Bank Park, Nola has a 2.45 FP and a 31.8 percent strikeout rate. He struggles against good left-handed hitters, which the Marlins lack.
NEXT BEST OPTION – Max Fried (L) $8,100
Fried may be a good play as he is $600 cheaper than Joe Mosgrove. The Reds lineup could give Mosgrove some issues but Faried has been doing great in his last eight starts. He has a 2.51 ERA, and opposing batters only have up together a .260 wOBA.
CATCHER/FIRST BASE – Yasmani Grandal (S) $3,100
Grandal could take advantage of this matchup against the Minnesota Twins. Bailey Ober has been solid, but left-handed batters have destroyed the ball when given the opportunity. Ober has faced 43 lefties and they have combined to hit a .769 SLG against him.
SECOND BASE – Marcus Semien (R) $3,300
On the road, Justus Sheffield has a 7.20 ERA on the road and 2.08 ERA in five starts. Semien went 3-5 with a three-run home run, a double, five runs batted in, stole a base, and scored a run. This a good potential matchup for Semien as the pitcher’s struggles away from home are evident.
THIRD BASE – Manny Machado (R) $3,500
Machado was back in the starting lineup yesterday. The last ten games for Machado have been great. He has a batting average of .382, three home runs, a .706 SLG, and a 1.127 OPS.
NEXT BEST OPTION – Yoan Moncada (S) $3,000
Another switch hitter could be a problem for Ober. Moncada is currently day-to-day, and will most likely be in the starting lineup. His power numbers have always been a lot better as a left-handed hitter.
SHORTSTOP – Xander Boegearts (R) $3,500
Boegaerts is just on a roll, batting .351 in their last ten games. Mike Minor had a good month of May but is dealing with the woes of June sporting a 6.03 ERA this month. The Red Sox may pile up some runs, leaving Bogaerts in a position to drive in runs. He is basically unstoppable at Fenway Park.
OUTFIELDER – Yordan Alverez (L) $4,100
The Houston Astros have struggled this time around against the Baltimore Orioles. This is a good spot to play a pair of Astro outfielders against Matt Harvey who is really struggling this season, sporting a 7.80 ERA in 62.1 innings pitched. Alvarez has power and hit 13 home runs this season, meanwhile, Harvey has given up 12 long balls.
OUTFIELDER – Micheal Brantley (L) $3,700
Another Astro you could look into is Brantley. Brantley is 2-14 in the last three games; however, he has a strong month of June.
OUTFIELDER – Brian Goodwin (L) $2,900
As a lefty, Goodwin may be another White Sox to play for a very cheap price. Goodwin has been in the two-hole consistently in the lineup when facing right-handed pitchers. He has a .768 OPS this season.
UTILITY – Gavin Sheets (L) $2,000
Sheets went 2-4 in his major league debut yesterday. Obviously, you can go after another player if you have money remaining, but Sheets had a 70 power grade as a prospect.
